Is An LCD, Amoled Or OLED TV Better?

The television is today more than ever an indispensable device in the home. Given the variety available, some advice never hurts to choose a television that suits our needs. In this post, we are going to see the differences between LCD Amoled or Oled, and which is the best of the three.

Characteristics of an LCD TV

Its screen is made up of a set of illuminated liquid crystals with a luminous rear panel. If they directly receive natural light, the image is not affected, since its lighting comes from the background thanks to said panel. For this reason, they are the most common on mobile devices such as tablets or smartphones.

There is an advanced version of this technology known as TFT. It uses pixels that are connected to a single transistor and capacitor. Its main advantage is that its contrasts have better results without increasing its total cost.

Another improvement in LCDs was known as IPS. It was created to overcome the previous one, whose colors and image angle was poor. Not only were these problems solved, but energy savings were also increased compared to TFT.

Characteristics of an OLED TV

It is based on a technology of organic light emitters that make each pixel light up individually.

It stands out for the intensity of the colors, the contrast, and the energy saving. Blacks are deeper, there is a better viewing angle, and response time is reduced. This means that fast-moving scenes do not appear blurry or fuzzy.

Aesthetically, its design is thinner and lighter, and there may even be curved devices.

Characteristics of an AMOLED TV

Its technology, very similar to those of Oled, differs from these by electronically activating the organic light-emitting diodes only when necessary. For this reason, they are the most efficient screens of all views.

They are characterized by capturing very bright, vibrant, and flexible images. Blacks are purer and appear darker on screen as there is no backlighting, while vivid colors are much more intensified.

And which one is better? Tips for choosing a TV

The best way to decide the convenience of one or the other is to make a quality-price comparison.

LCDs are, without a doubt, the cheapest. However, the specific characteristics of the TV should be studied, since there may be the option that the image is not particularly good. The IPS technology is the best option for gamers, as it has a very low response time, which in turn means a better tactile response than normal LCD screens and even Amoled ones.

Televisions that incorporate Oled technology are on an intermediate scale between LCD and Amoled. However, the quality they present makes them a more than recommended option in which to invest. Many experts in the market consider it to be the future of screens.

Finally, the Amoled are the most expensive of the three. This does not imply that they are the best since their useful life is much shorter compared to the previous ones.

Despite all this, the important thing is to choose a television size that is suitable for the type of room in which it is to be incorporated. Buying a device with many inches for a small room will mean that we do not see the image well, no matter how good the screen is. There is a  size chart to give you an idea of the ideal size.

We hope that with these keys it will be much easier for you to decide on good television. If you have any questions, do not hesitate and contact us.
